Prada Spring 2011

So, once again, I didn't follow through on my promise!  I haven't updated my blog in some time.  Work has been busy, and I've been spending a lot of my time socializing in Seattle, trying to get out there and meet as many people as I can!  But, I decided to break from my normal routine and get back on here!  Also, I am compelled to post some of my favorite shows of the Spring 2011 menswear shows thus far.

To anyone that knows me, it should come as no surprise that Prada would be at the top of my list for Milan shows.  Miuccia is an innovator and always sets the pace for what to expect from other shows for the remainder of the season.  I really feel like she outdid herself this time around.  The collection was not only wearable, but had such a strong focus and direction that EVERY other collection thus far feels like it was taking direction from this collection!  All major trends that have come forth after Milan Fashion Week were represented in this moment - denim on denim, navy, blues and earthy tones as a focal color, with shots of technicolor as pops, play on proportion and emphasis on utilitarian details.  The level of refinement and sophistication shown throughout was amazing.  Also, the collection was commercial, yet forward thinking.  It had all the subversive qualities that make me love Prada so much.  All in all, not only the best collection of the season so far, but one of the best collections that Prada has presented in my encyclopedic memory.

Alejandro

Of course, you all know that Gaga can do no wrong in my eyes.  This video is no exception for me.  Gaga + Klein = Beautiful Romance.  What a hauntingly gorgeous music video!

Bright Lit Blue Skies

I'm hoping for these to come soon.....video for Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's cover of The Rockin' Ramrods 1966 track, "Bright Lit Blue Skies"

Holiday

I'm so ready for a vacation.  I know, I know, I've just started working!  It's the summer, though!  And we haven't had any warm weather in Seattle yet.  AND I as just in LA this week and it was warmer than Seattle, and definitely sunnier. This video captures how I feel about LA.  I was at the giant pink Paul Smith store this week!

Islands

Another favorite - although this song officially came out in 2009.  The video was just released a couple of weeks ago.  I wish I could say that I fully understand the repetitive nature of the video in relationship with the song.  I can only imagine it has a connection to the chorus - "I am yours now, so now I don't ever have to leave."  Either way, it's a great video!

Zebra

This is probably my favorite song of the year so far, so I'm very happy to see that a music video was made for it.  It does posses the dreamy quality that makes this song special to me.  If you haven't picked up "Teen Dream" by Beach House, I highly recommend that you do.  It's a fantastic album!

It's been too long!

Hello Friends!

So, I know it's been a VERY long time since I've posted anything on my blog.  Things have been insane!  So, I'm now living in Seattle.  I found a job out here and things happened so fast, so it was quite a whirlwind experience.  I've been here for a month now and I am completely in love with this city!  First off, it's completely beautiful here.  It's a true city, but it's surrounded by natural beauty. I'm surrounded by water!!!!  That's refreshing, being that I was land locked for 5 years out in Columbus.  The biggest change for me is having a life!  In Columbus, I was consumed by work and didn't really have a life, but that's all changed now.  So, now that I've settled into my apartment and have some more free time, I promise that I will keep you guys updated with inspiration, musings, things that make me smile, etc.

I do have to say that I've found myself repping Columbus.  I've made it a bit of a mission to change people's ideas of the Midwest, because Columbus is a city that treated me so well.  I had a great time out there and I met some of the most amazing people anywhere out there.  I love and miss you guys!
