Prada Spring 2011

So, once again, I didn't follow through on my promise!  I haven't updated my blog in some time.  Work has been busy, and I've been spending a lot of my time socializing in Seattle, trying to get out there and meet as many people as I can!  But, I decided to break from my normal routine and get back on here!  Also, I am compelled to post some of my favorite shows of the Spring 2011 menswear shows thus far.

To anyone that knows me, it should come as no surprise that Prada would be at the top of my list for Milan shows.  Miuccia is an innovator and always sets the pace for what to expect from other shows for the remainder of the season.  I really feel like she outdid herself this time around.  The collection was not only wearable, but had such a strong focus and direction that EVERY other collection thus far feels like it was taking direction from this collection!  All major trends that have come forth after Milan Fashion Week were represented in this moment - denim on denim, navy, blues and earthy tones as a focal color, with shots of technicolor as pops, play on proportion and emphasis on utilitarian details.  The level of refinement and sophistication shown throughout was amazing.  Also, the collection was commercial, yet forward thinking.  It had all the subversive qualities that make me love Prada so much.  All in all, not only the best collection of the season so far, but one of the best collections that Prada has presented in my encyclopedic memory.

Alejandro

Of course, you all know that Gaga can do no wrong in my eyes.  This video is no exception for me.  Gaga + Klein = Beautiful Romance.  What a hauntingly gorgeous music video!

Bright Lit Blue Skies

I'm hoping for these to come soon.....video for Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's cover of The Rockin' Ramrods 1966 track, "Bright Lit Blue Skies"
